How can I install RegRun II?
- Shut down (Close) any currently running RegrunII programs.
- Run the downloaded file by clicking on regrunXXX.exe and following the setup instructions. You should not uninstall a previous version.
How can I install RegRun II on the Windows NT/2000?
You must login as administrator for installation, registration, and uninstallation.
Other users can use one registered copy of RegRun II on the same machine.
RegRun II automatically determines user rights and automatically configures itself.
The common user can't write access to the sections of RegRun II if he doesn't have rights in the system.
Power Users of Windows NT/2000 have full access to the following:
- Registry - Current User Run
- Startup folder
- Current user RunOnce
- Read-only access for other parts.
Each user has his own folder, My Documents\RegRun2, which contains a backup of startup profiles, log file.
What does an evaluation time mean?
You can use RegRun II for 30 days to test its functionality and reliability.
After that you must order RegRun II or uninstall.
What does RegRun II do with my computer after evaluation time expire?
Nothing. Your computer is safe.
RegRun II only warns you that you forgot to purchase it. That's all!

Why did I lose several my configuration sets after installing version 2.7?
Version 2.7 is a major change to Regrun, and we want you to review your current configuration in addition to reviewing new configuration options.
RegRun II hangs when running and uninstalling?
If you set a 16-color mode of screen, RegRun II might hang up.
There are no problems with using Windows 95/2000; you merely need to set 256 or more colors.
How to uninstall RegRun II?
There are many ways to do it:
- Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.
- Launch RegRun II and choose Help -> Uninstall in main menu.
- Launch RegRun II with parameter /u.
- Manually delete folder RegRun2 and registry keys:
HKLM\Software\Greatis\Regrun2
HKCU\Software\Greatis\Regrun2
You must restart computer to finish uninstalling.
What is Secure Start?
Secure Start is active BEFORE Windows is fully activated, and allows a controlled startup process.
There are two version of Secure Start: Secure Start working in DOS mode and Secure Start working in the Windows mode.
Secure Start DOS works with Windows 95/98.
Secure Start Windows works with Windows 95/98/NT4/2000/ME.

Within Windows 2K or WIndows NT, only the administrator has the privilege to setup Secure Start. This setup is applied for all other users.
How does Secure Start work?
Secure Start DOS uses "autoexec.bat" for launch.
Secure Start Windows uses registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEx.
To use Secure Start Windows with Windows 95/NT4 you need to install Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or higher version. RegRun emulates support RunOnceEx key using iernonce.dll.
What is Watch Dog?
"WATCH DOG" - Provides silent monitoring of the startup managers during your Windows working session. Watchdog may be configured to check the startup managers at Windows startup, Windows shutdown, and as a recurrent check with specified time interval. If one of these scans detects a change, you are notified with a popup window and a start up of Start Control, along with the option to restore the affected file.
What is STARTUP PROFILER?
"STARTUP PROFILER" - Creates a special designed file, called startup profile, that contains all startup information. The user may create own profiles and restore them in WINDOWS and DOS. "STARTUP PROFILER" has a unique feature for startup troubleshooting - "Clean Boot". Using the "Clean Boot", the user will boot in a really clean Windows.

Startup Profiler DOS allows choosing custom profile before Windows starts and allows to use special feature Clean Boot.
Startup Profiler Windows allows to create custom profiles and restore them. You should restart computer to see changes.
How to use rbm files?
RegRun II has a unique feature to work with registry - Registry Bookmark.
"REGISTRY BOOKMARK" allows instant access to any key in the registry. Merely copy a registry key to the clipboard, and RegRun II will take you there! The user can create own bookmarks or use the special designed packet for improving performance, Windows enhancement and troubleshooting. Packet contains the description of many registry keys, tips and tricks. REGISTRY BOOKMARK loads information from "rbm" files.
If you are a registered user, you can download and use Greatis registry package for Windows 9X and NT/2000. Unzip files from archive and copy to the RegRun II folder. Open menu File -> Registry Bookmark -> File -> Open and choose file.
This feature is a WONDERFUL for advanced users - novices should deactivate it, or explore it carefully under controlled
Watch Dog founds new started or paused NT services each time after launching Windows
Windows NT/2000 initializes RAS, Telephony and several other services after the user logon. Curiously, services such Telephony start in spite of setting "Manual" - these services will be stopped after the small time. RegRun II will find these "stealth" services and warn you. While RegRun II 2.6 can't refresh service status and notify the user again, newly enhanced version 2.7 can! When you use the Refresh button, NT services will be refreshed too. (Note: We use parameter string "/c 1" to initialize RegRun for the first time. For example: "C:\Program Files\Greatis Software\Regrun2\regrun2.exe /c 1".) RegRun II will skip testing NT services with the starting. The refresh occur automatically with the recheck and you'll see actually changes.
Problems with registration
After purchasing RegRun II you will receive a letter with registration information.
The registration key is built on the basis of the user data.
Required User Information: Name, Last Name (family name), and e-mail.
You must fill the registration form Exactly as in the registration message. You may use Copy/Paste (CTRL+C/CTRL+V) to clipboard commands to enter information correctly. After the pressing Register you'll need to wait for a pair second. You'll see a message "Registered" on the title of main windows. If you have a nag screen, the nag window will be closed. After the next starting of RegRun II you'll never see a "Registered" message. It is normal.
How many CPU time the RegRun II uses?
RegRun II does not monitor the registry and files continuously. It will check your system periodically, based upon Watch Dog's period. The checking is very fast. RegRun II uses small CPU time and system resources.
I've modified the RegRun II profile, but I want to return to a prior condition!
RegRun II saves the previous system profile with name "Undo.rr2". Choose File -> Open Profile -> right Click and choose "Open from" -> Locate "Undo" profile and restore it. To restore earlier stored backup copy, use menu item "Show Backup Copies". The last saved RegRun II profiles named "Regrun2.rr2". RegRun II will backup previous profiles and save new when you use the Save button. Regrun II keeps five last copies of your startup.
